Wild Oyster Project

The Wild Oyster Project's mission is to rewild San Francisco Bay by restoring native Olympia oysters. Our focus is on restoration done entirely within the community by local volunteers. Along with our nonprofit partners, urban planners, and policy makers, we seek to confront issues of global significance - climate change, rising sea levels, and ecosystem resilience - and together work towards our vision of an edible, swimmable bay.

"Oysters have superpowers! They have so many wonderful benefits. One grown oyster can filter 50 gallons of water a day. Oysters provide habitat for other critters, and it's been proven that oyster reefs attenuate the effects of rising tides caused by climate change.”
~ Linda Hunter, Founder of Wild Oyster Project
